Hello! My name is Kelly, and I am passionately working towards completing my Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology with Yorkville University.

I was drawn to pursue a career as a counsellor because of my deep interest in self-growth. This self-work, done with the help of my own therapist, has provided me a safe space to see myself more clearly with compassion and nonjudgment. The result has led me to a deeper understanding and confidence in myself and my life choices, as they are more grounded in truth and authenticity.

As a counsellor, I provide a warm accepting environment in which you to feel safe to share your challenges and insights at your own pace. The values I bring to the therapy process are authenticity, integrity, honesty, and confidentiality. We work together to deepen an understanding of where you are at and make goals to support you to getting where you’d like to be.

My approach to therapy is informed by several theories and schools of thought, but at my work's core I rely on emotion-focused therapy, attachment-based therapy and somatic workEmotion-focused therapy uses emotional awareness to understand what our emotions are telling us and how we can use that information to move forward in strengthening our relationship with ourselves and with others. Attachment theory looks at the relational patterns with our childhood caregivers and using these insights to better understand our needs, strengths, struggles and patterns in our adult relationships. We are all influenced by our early learning in relationships and this can be a very important part of helping understand ourselves. Additionally, somatic work can be used in therapy as a way of using our bodies as both a resource and to provide information about what we are feeling.

My former careers include being a classroom teacher, training the blind and visually impaired, and a vision therapist. I am a proud and loving mother to my 14- and 10-year-old children. I love living in Squamish where I’ve been for the past five years.  I enjoy hiking, yoga, and spending time with my family.

Currently, I am working with adults and youth aged 14 and older

Please reach out and I would be happy to set up a time for a free 15 minute consultation call to see if we might be a good fit.

Please note that as a Masters student, Kelly's sessions are available at a lower fee.
