Hello! My name is Kelly, and I have a Masters in Counselling and am awaiting registration with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
I was drawn to pursue a career as a counsellor because of my deep interest in self-growth. This self-work, done with the help of my own therapist, has provided me a safe space to see myself more clearly with compassion and nonjudgment. The result has led me to a deeper understanding and confidence in myself and my life choices, as they are more grounded in truth and authenticity.
As a counsellor, I provide a warm, accepting environment where you can feel safe sharing your challenges and insights at your own pace. The values I bring to the therapy process are authenticity, integrity, honesty, and confidentiality. We work together to deepen an understanding of where you are at and make goals to support you in getting where you'd like to be.
Several theories and schools of thought inform my approach to therapy, but at my work's core, I rely on emotion-focused therapy, attachment-based therapy and somatic work.
Emotion-focused therapy uses emotional awareness to understand what our emotions are telling us and how we can use that information to move forward in strengthening our relationship with ourselves and others.
Attachment theory looks at the relational patterns with our childhood caregivers and uses these insights to better understand our needs, strengths, struggles and patterns in our adult relationships. We are all influenced by our early learning in relationships, and working with the inner child and reparenting can be highly beneficial.
Somatic work can be used in therapy to use our bodies as both a resource and to provide information about what we are feeling.
Currently, I am working with adults and youth aged 14 and older. I work with individuals that have a diverse range of challenges. Some of the areas I offer support in are:
- Relationship concerns
- Navigating separation/divorce
- Life transitions
- Anxiety/Depression
- Grief and loss
- Personal growth
I am a proud and loving mother to my two children. I have lived in Squamish for six years and enjoy hiking, yoga, and spending time with my family.
Please reach out, and I'd be happy to set up a free 15-minute phone consultation call to determine whether we're a good fit.
